Harvesting July Flowers for Nectar and Pollen

As summer heats up here in Ohio, the bees are busy out in the yard gathering all the nectar and pollen that they can. The competition is fierce! The honeybees are competing with local bumblebees, smaller native pollinators, and the hives from down the street!

Dozens of bees are swarming the yard. They are jumping from flower to flower and gathering pollen and nectar. Here are the flowers being harvested this July:

False Dandelions!
Yellow Hawkweed

These abundant flowers are currently covering the yard, and are particularly liked by the bees. As they provide needed pollen!

Rose of Sharon!

The well trimmed plants are just now starting to bloom. These also provide a great source of pollen and are a favorite for both our honeybees and local bumblebees.

Purple Clover!

White Clover!
